Teara HaringgiWoman’s Shoulder Scarf
Teara haringgi is a single panel textile with supplementary warp patterning. It may be worn by women as a shoulder cloth or by men as a head wrap for Sumbanese ceremonies.
The central motif on this textile is called patola ratu and refers to the Indian trade cloths that were a principle barter good during the spice trade. Only a person of high status would wear this motif.
