TaisWoman's Ceremonial Sarong
Tais luik moi is a woman’s ceremonial sarong. This tais is woven using a floating wrap patterning. The black colour is from a mud dye process that this village is renown.
The motif on this textile is called Teke means gecko and is a representation of the ancestor.
This simple but classic cloth is beautiful as a wall hanging.

Plain weave, floating wrap patterning, three panels stitched together and sewn as a tube, commercial cotton, natural dyes. Dyed and woven in Amanatun, Timor, 2019.
