Biboki textiles such as this tais hae ma’buna are characterised by strong Morinda-red dyes and intricate ikat designs often including the delicate buna warp-wrap patterning at the head and foot.
The stylized ikat patterning biboek’sa is inspired by the floral patterns found on the Patola Indian tradecloth.
Warp ikat, supplementary warp-wrap, four panels stitched together into tube, handspun cotton, natural and synthetic dyes.
