Reversible JacketLembata Handspun,Raw Silk
The designer, Anar, has designed this stunning wearable art using textiles from the Threads of Life collection. This one-of-a-kind kimono style reversible jacket integrates the bold, traditional handspun natural dyed textile called kwatek nai telo, from Lamalera village huddles along the south coast of Lembata looking out to the Indian Ocean.
The reverse side is made from the and wild silk from the Attacus atlas moth. These cocoons are harvested after the moth has flown. Harvesting Attacus silk is one way of diversifying income from natural forest systems to help preserve forests.
Warp ikat, handspun cotton and Attacus silk, natural dyes. Made in Bali, 2019.
