A textile is called a mau maneka in the local language and would be the centre panel in a larger cloth worn by a man. Timor has a wide range of textiles with various techniques including ikat, supplementary warp wrap called buna and supplementary warp patterning called sotis.

This textile required combining ikat patterning with warp wrap buna technique. The stunning blue color is dyed from indigo strobilantes cusia. The motif on this textile is called ma’kai bia suna ana refers to a small hooked motif that represents interconnectedness.
