This woman’s shoulder cloth is called mau ana locally is made by the weavers of the region of Amanatun in West Timor. The villages around Ayotupas in the northern area of Amanatun are well known for their buna or warp wrap technique.

The ikat motif is called Atoni refers to the ancestor and is seen as both male and female. The ancestor may be called upon to help with ceremonies such as building a traditional house, planting crops along with other cultural endeavors.

This textile is lovely hang on a wall or used as a table runner or scarf.
