Lipa Mitan is the general name for a man’s cloth worn as a tube sarong in the area of Sikka and Ende Flores. There are two types of male sarong; LIpa merak matan pitu which is a textile that has no ikat motif and has a combination of colors.

Lipa merak loen peten has a red base color and includes a weft ikat motif. The sarongs can use red color from Morinda or blue from indigofera. Threads of Life is working with the vibrant weaving group called Bliran Sina located in the eastern part of Flores outside of Maumere.

Warp ikat, two panels stitched together and sewn as a tube, commercial cotton, natural dyes. . Ikat tied, dyed and woven in Flores, 2008.
