This single panel scarf, Lete, is worn for special ceremonies by the women of the ethnic group Ende-Lio from Ndona in Central Flores near Ende. This Lete is made from natural dyes which the weavers in this area value over the common use of chemical dyes.

The central ikat motif on this textile is called NggajaNggaja is the local word for elephant and is an ikat motif copied from the Indian silk and cotton patola textiles that were used as currency during the time of the spice trade.
