This cushion is made up of a traditional cloth woven in Sulawesi using natural dyes and traditional ikat motifs. The solid colour backing is made by the weavers from Hamba Praing in East Sumba dyed with natural indigo using natural processes. This area of Sumba is famous for its indigo dyed cloth.
The motif on this cushion is called ulu karua and refers to the eight traditional leaders who have specific roles and responsibilities for the wellbeing of their community.
These handmade natural dyed cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed.
