Cushion CoverTraditional Textiles
This cushion is made up of a traditional cloth woven in Sulawesi using natural dyes and traditional ikat motifs. The motif on this cushion is called tosso’ balekoan, which represents a niddy-noddy used for making skeins of yarn after being spun from cotton fibers into thread. After this, the skeins are wound into a ball of yarn ready to be used to warp a loom. Using this as a motif suggests the importance of this transformation of spun thread to textiles.
These handmade natural dyed cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed.
Woven in Karataun, Sulawesi, 2019.
