Cushion CoverTraditional Textiles
This cushion is made up of the traditional cloth woven on Flores using natural dyes and traditional ikat motifs. This reds colours are achieved by multiple dyes from the bark of the root of Morinda citrifolia and the blues from Indigofera tinctoria. The motif is an ancestor motif of a person with horses and is usually used on a textile that is part of the marriage gift exchange. Horses and animals are often included along with textiles as part of these gifts.
The backing is an entire look in and of itself, the beautiful supplementary pattering on an indigo background is stunning in its simplicity. This type of patterning is usually used for a man’s sarong. These handmade natural dyed cushions would be exquisite on a couch, chair or bed.
