Beti TnanaShoulder Cloth
Beti Naek is a three part man’s hip cloth with a center panel called a tnana. This textile is worn for ceremonies and special occasions.
The textiles of Miomafo area in west Timor are renown for their indigo work with intricate ikat. Motifs used include makaif, atoni, beso and noa no’o. The motif on this cloth is called beso or stacking frogs motif. Frogs are a symbol of the ancestor.
