Timor All ConnectedBeti Naek Blanket
Beti Naek is a three part man’s hip cloth with a center panel made with all ikat patterning and the same motif appearing in the bands on the two side panels. This textile is worn for ceremonies and special occasions.
The textiles of Miomafo area in west Timor are renown for their indigo work with intricate ikat. Motifs used include makaif, atoni, beso and noa no’o. The motif Makaif mnutu on this ikat textile refers a small finely made hook pattern and refers to interconnectedness between clans and family groups.
This stunning cloth of incredibly high quality is beautiful as a wall hanging or used as throw.
