Atoni bikase refers to an ancestor and horse. The horse is a very important animal in Timor as they are used not only as a pack animal but also as a bride gift at marriage. Horses also denote social status of a person. The importance of the horse in this Timor textile is apparent in that it appears with the atoni or ancestor figure. The atoni and horse are also surrounded by lenuk or turtle patterns.
In the local Timor Dawan language bikase means outside or foreign as horses are not indigenous to Timor but came from the outside.
