Beit AnaWoman’s Shoulder Cloth
This exquisite ikat textile Beit Ana is a narrow shoulder cloth worn by women for ceremonies or special occasions. The textiles of Miomafo area of Timor, where this textile is from, are renown for their deep indigo work and intricate motifs.
For the people of Timor certain animals, plants, rocks and water springs are sacred and become a clans totem. Motifs used include makaif, atoni, beso and noa no’o. The motif paos kenat which refers to an ornate leather belt worn by the Meo warriors of Timor
