Shoulder Cloth

This woman’s shoulder cloth is called mau ana locally is made by the weavers of the region of Amanatun in West Timor. The villages around Ayotupas in the northern area of Amanatun are well known for their buna or warp wrap technique. The motif is called teme an eagle motif.

Warp ikat, single panel, twisted fringe, handspun cotton, natural dyes. Tied dyed and woven, dyed in Nasi, Timor, 2019.
