Woman’s Shoulder Cloth
The weavers of Amanuban have a wide range of textiles with various techniques including: ikat, supplementary warp wrap called buna and supplementary warp patterning called sotis. There are a few remote areas that still weave kelim patterns locally called naisa.
The motif on this beautifully red dyed handspun cloth using buna patterning is called makaif and speaks to the interconnectedness of all things.
Supplementary warp-wrap patterning, single panel, twisted fringe, commercial cotton, natural dyes.
Made by Godilva Spunit, Amanuban, Timor. 2019.
