Woman’s Shoulder Cloth
Beit Ana is a narrow shoulder cloth worn by women for ceremonies or special occasions. The textiles of Miomafo area of Timor, where this textile is from, are renown for their deep indigo work and intricate motifs.
The motif on this cloth is called ma’kaif or small hooked pattern and relates to interconnectedness: people to people, people to land, people to animals, and plant life and people to the Divine ancestor.
