Activity and
Donor History
YPBB stands for
Yayasan Pecinta Budaya Bebali and is the name of the Indonesian nonprofit
that the Threads of Life business is partnered with in its community work.
In order to help with fund raising for the YPBB Foundation, Threads of
Life started a US-registered nonprofit, called the Threads of Life
Foundation, through which tax-deductible donations to the YPBB Foundation
can be made.

The
The YPBB Foundation was established in September 2002 to
act in two related are as.
. Within Bali its mission is to:
-
increase locally sustainable income for Bali's rural
poor, especially women weavers,
-
increase financial independence for this same population,
-
increase domestic demand for handmade bebali (i.e.
Balinese ceremonial) textiles, with a special focus on natural-dyed
work,
Across Indonesia its mission is to:
-
research traditional dye techniques from around the archipelago,
-
teach dyeing to weavers who have lost their natural
dye traditions,
-
work with weavers whose natural dyeing abilities have degraded by
seeking sustainable plant-based refinements of their recipes,
-
facilitate the development of local natural dye
gardens for use by these weavers,
-
stimulate and assist in the development of weavers and dye-plant
farmers' cooperatives,
-
educate cooperatives as to the economic demands and
opportunities of their work,
-
facilitate inter-island workshops, meetings and the
exchange of knowledge and materials towards the development of a
broad-based, grassroots mutually empowering weaver's community.
